Created to produce a single cup of high-quality coffee, the Aeropress is unique to the coffee market. Described as a sort of cafetiere-filter pour over hybrid, it combines a filter with a press down mechanism that forces the water through the filter for a delicious coffee that’s described as lighter than cafetiere coffee but richer than a pour-over filter machine. .
Made of just three parts – a stirring paddle, filter holder and funnel, the Aeropress is easy and simple to put together. It also comes with a scoop for adding the ground coffee to the device, and includes 350 paper filters, which can be washed and reused up to ten times.
This unique coffee maker offers two brewing methods: standard and ‘inverted’. The standard coffee making method takes less than a minute to brew a single or double shot of espresso. The inverted method, which involves pre-soaking the beans by turning the device upside down, takes around two and a half minutes for the perfect taste.
While you can technically extract as much or as little coffee as you like, the Aeropress is designed for making single or double espressos, with useful markings on the side of the unit for measuring the coffee. It needs a finely ground coffee for effective extraction.
Cleaning the Aeropress is easy, as it can be put into the dishwasher or washed with warm, soapy water to keep it in good working order.
